Fuchs Memorial Award

This Award, established in honor of the late Professor Nikolai Albertovich Fuchs 
(1895-1982), is given every four years in recognition of exceptionally meritorious 
research contributions to the field of aerosol science and technology. The award 
is intended as a continuing recognition of Professor Fuchs' contributions to the 
international scientific community, as well as a means of encouraging the same 
high standards among contemporary scientists in conducting aerosol research.




Fuchs Memorial Awardは世界の１２ヶ国および地域からなる国際エアロゾル連合
（International Aerosol Research Assembly)が、故Professor Nikolai Albertovich 
Fuchs（ソビエトの科学者） を記念して設立した賞で、エアロゾル（気相分散微粒子系）
の科学・技術分野にオリジナルな研究により貢献した個人に授与される国際的に
最も名誉ある賞です。４年に１回、 国際エアロゾル会議の席で授与されます

広島大学の奥山喜久夫教授は、エアロゾルの計測技術の開発、エアロゾルの動力学的
挙動の評価、半導体の製造におけるクリーン化技術の発展、気相中での微粒子材料の
製造などの研究により２４０報の研究論文を報告し、それらがエアロゾルの科学と工学に
大きく貢献したことが認められ、今回の受賞となった。

これまで、４人が受賞しており、アジアからは、初めての受賞である。
