Contribution Rules and Remittance Details [updated on 2011.10.1]

1. Purpose of the Journal
Original articles written in English in the fields of anesthesiology, resuscitation, intensive care, and pain medicine are reviewed and accepted for publication in "Anesth Resus" based on their value to our readers. Any article that contains personal patient information or lacks a statement of ethical considerations will not be accepted. In addition, articles citing previous publications without permission, or that report investigations of clinical issues or used experimental animals without approval from an appropriate institutional ethical committee will not be published.

2. Document type
Article documents will be considered for publication only after being submitted by the electronic online system of the journal web site. Please see the top page for additional information regarding the submission procedures.

Please read the following instructions carefully. Hand-written and paper-based manuscripts of any kind will not be accepted without prior approval. If the manuscript is only available in a paper-based form, please consult with the editorial office before sending the article. Please use Microsoft Word® word processing software and only submit files with the extension .doc or .docx. Use print edition format, A4 page size only, with horizontal and vertical margins of at least 2 cm. The typeface used must range from 10 to 12 points and the document should be double-spaced.

A cover letter (comments to the editor) should be included with the manuscript as a separate file and include a statement regarding the purpose of  submission of your article. Any article simultaneously submitted to or being considered for publication in another journal will not be considered for publication. Any author who violates these rules will have their rights of authorship permanently removed and this fact will be noted in the Journal.

The first page of the manuscript should be a title page showing all authors’ names, affiliations, and addresses. Please include no more than 5 keywords within 20 characters each. Generally, keywords should be single words and phrases are not appropriate, except for those such as "epidural analgesia". On the top right corner of each page, include the serial page number, with the cover page as page one.

The above requirements are common among English scientific articles. If the article is published, author names and affiliations will be printed, while their titles and degrees including MD and PhD will not be. If the article exceeds the limits of the journal, the editor has the right to delete and change prior to final printing. Please submit your article in accordance with these requirements.

3. Manuscript
Please conform your manuscript writing the same as with a Japanese manuscript. Any style will be accepted, but avoid mixing styles (for example; American and British) in the same paper. As for unit symbols (for example; μg for micrograms), please make sure that no double-byte characters are used. Case reports do not require an abstract. Review articles and original articles should include an abstract of 200 words or less on the second page. Begin the text of the article on the third page. The abstract should be written in English. An abstract written in Japanese will also be accepted, if included with the submission.

4. References and forms
When writing references, include the authors’ names up to 3. As for delimiters, please use the following: between name and title use ":", between volume and journal name use ",", between page and page use ":", and between pages and years use ",". After the delimiter, please add one space. Since many submissions include a copy with the PubMed format for references, please be careful to rearrange the references in accordance with our requirements. All references should include author(s), title, journal name, volume number, starting page - ending page, and year of publication. Please use the journal name in accordance with Index Medicus.
