What should we do to bring peace to the post-Cold War type of conflicts and reconstruct the society that does not allow the conflict to return?ー This question cannot be ignored by us in the present international society including Japan. Hiroshima University Partnership Project for Peacebuilding and Capacity Development(HiPeC-II) is to tackle the problem from the perspective of"Indigenous Initiatives" in order to find the way to peace.
Peacebuilding has many aspects such as "Reconstruction of the damaged society," "Reintegration of the combatants to the local community," "Stabilization of the peace process," "Reconciliation of the people in conflict," "Security sector reform," and "Restructuring of a state system," each of which overlaps with an individual academic disciprine like political science, public administration, psychology, history, jurisprudence, anthropology and area studies. However,Peacebuilding has a strong purpose of not returning to the conflict again, and in this sense, it is not a mere collection of individual disciprines but an integrated science.
