Educational Vision and Goals

The Graduate School of Integrated Arts and Sciences seeks to train “focused generalists” who can evaluate their achievements objectively from an interdisciplinary and comprehensive perspective. Students learn the intellectual techniques of the integrated arts and sciences, an approach that excels in interdisciplinary content, comprehensive scope, and creative energy, while “focusing” on specialized knowledge and skills as they pursue research in their own fields of specialization.

The Graduate School of Integrated Arts and Sciences is committed to educating well-rounded individuals who can apply their experiences in the programs to the 21st century’s “knowledge-based society.” The School combines the intellectual techniques of “integrated arts and sciences” with deep understanding and insight into the human condition and puts into practice a program for “educating well-rounded individuals” in accordance with the five guiding principles of Hiroshima University.
