| Shiraishi attended the Bathurst Meeting, an international conference on carbonate sedimentology held on the island of Mallorca in Spain, and began the day by observing Messinian carbonate rocks on a field trip. | |

| During our stay, we enjoyed Spanish cuisine such as sangria and paella. | |

| The conference was held at an aquarium. It was a very productive meeting, with discussions of collaborative research beginning. | |
