As the pandemic has subsided, we decided to
conduct tours to enhance our geological
insight and deepen friendships among the Lab
members. The first tour was a two-day,
one-night trip to Hiroshima and Shimane. The
photo shows the Bihoku Group in Shobara and
the bone fossils contained within it. |

Next, we observed the turbidites and
columnar joints found on the Susuumi coast. |
We had a BBQ at the inn that night, and the
next morning we went to Oda Beach to search
for shell fossils and other things. |
Next, we visited Iwami Silver Mine. |
Finally, we observed the calcareous
concretions at Tatamigaura, some of which
contained fossilized bones believed to be
from whales. |
