2nd Shiraishi Lab excursion @Shikoku
(Mar. 30-Apr. 1, 2024)

The purpose of this year's Shiraishi Lab field excursion was to observe the major geological bodies of Shikoku. First, we observed the lamprophyre dikes of the Ryoke Belt, then the Izumi Group.
After observing the Ikeda Fault outcrop of the Median Tectonic Line, we moved to our lodgings. Here, we lost most of the meat we had purchased.
The next morning, we visited the nearby Suspension Bridge Made with Vines, then took a sightseeing boat to Oboke to observe the rocks of the Sanbagawa Belt.
We moved to Sakawa Town and visited the Naumann Karst and the Sakawa Geological Museum. We introduced Stengel-san to the exchanges between Japan and Germany in the field of geology.
The second night was spent at the site of a closed elementary school. We had a BBQ under a tent.
On the third day, we first observed the Northern Chichibu Belt in Nakatsu Valley.
Next, we observed Yokokurayama of the Kurosegawa Belt and the Butsuzo Tectonic Line outcrop. The latter was a breeding ground for ticks.
Finally, we observed the Tei melange, where we were also able to see beautiful pillow lava.
