This year's Shiraishi Lab field trip started
at a hot spring in Shimane. New discoveries
were made around the geyser at Kibedani Hot
Spring. By the time we reached the Shioido,
the rain had become heavier. |

|
By the time we were observing the columnar
joints at Tatamigafuchi, the rain had turned
to snow. In the lodge, we had BBQ by avoiding
the strong winds. |

The weather was rough the next day as well.
We were unable to get close to the outcrop
of Susa Hornfels. Akiyoshidai was also
lightly covered in snow. |

Observing fossils at the Mine City Fossil
Collection Site. In the evening, we enjoy
curry supervised by Panday-san. |

In the morning, we observed the sedimentary
structure of the Yuyawan Group. Afterwards,
we moved to Shimonoseki and observed the
limestone of the Toyonishi Group. We found
traces of sample collection I had made over
20 years ago, and felt nostalgic for a
while. |

This year's excursion ended with the
observation of shell fossils from the
Toyonishi Group and paleosols from the
Kanmon Group. |
