Shirahone Hot Spring investigation @Nagano
(Jun. 3-8, 2025)

Following on from last year, Kiyohara-san continued to investigate the travertine found at Shirahone Hot Spring for her master thesis research. On the first day, she quantified hydrogen sulfide in the rain.
On the second day, we performed microelectrode measurements. The measurement of hydrogen sulfide also seemed to go well.
From the third day onwards, we investigated fossil travertine. In some areas, modern tufa has also formed.
On the last day, we investigated the travertine near Hirayu Hot Spring. We walked 4 km round trip along the river. It seemed that the formation of the travertine had already finished.
