| Shiraishi and Kiyohara-san visited National Taiwan University to measure the U-Th age of travertine. As it is a former imperial university, the buildings there are similar to those in Japan. | |

| The analysis was carried out in Prof. Shen's HISPEC Lab at the Institute of Geology, in a clean room. | |

| In our free time, we visited the National Taiwan Museum, which has many earth science related exhibits. | |

| We also visited Beitou Hot Spring, the type locality of hokutolite, and Golden Waterfall, a travertine. The formation of the latter had already been finished, and the precipitation of iron hydroxides was predominant. | |
