Field trip @Noto and Geological Society of Japan @Kanazawa
(Sep. 12-15, 2026)
This year's GSJ meeting was held at Kanazawa Univ. Taking the opportunity, we also conducted a field trip to the Noto Peninsula. We began by observing the Wakura Diatomaceous Mudstone. In the evening, we held a party featuring prepared deli foods.
We visited Kuroshima Fishing Port, which was uplifted during the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, and the Agehama-style salt pans associated with evaporite deposits.
Godzilla Rock had also been uplifted and was now on dry land. The area around Mitsuke-jima—composed of Iizuka diatomaceous mudstone—also suffered significant damage from the earthquake.
After that, we traveled to Kanazawa to attend a conference. Einaga-san gave a poster presentation, and Pandey-san gave an oral presentation.
Sato-san gave an oral presentation. Sato-san and Einaga-san received the Student Outstanding Presentation Award. Congratulations! On the way back, we had Go! Go! Curry.
