[Blue Planet Research] PHAI: Community-oriented practice for planetary healthy aging

The world is now facing an ageing society, and the United Nations has launched a 10-year plan for healthy ageing in 2020. In order to practice this healthy ageing, it is necessary to harmonize not only human health but also the health of the entire global system, which includes the social and natural systems. To practice “the healthy ageing that walks together with the planet (Planetary Healthy Aging),” this research is developing the “Planetary Healthy Aging Index (PHAI)” to grasp the current situation and visualize the issues in the community. This research is supported by The Asahi Glass Foundation 「Blue Planet Global Environment Special Research Grant」.

(Climate) Health Effects of meteorological and seasonal factors: A multinational comparative approach

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. We have examined the link between meteorological and seasonal factors in different geographical locations (Japan, Israel, United States, Germany, and India), climate conditions, seasonality and ambient meteorological conditions.

(Diabetes) Epidemiological study in the “Yuport Medical Checkup Center Study”

Due to changes in eating habits and exercise habits, the number of diabetic patients is increasing worldwide, and evidence for preventive measures is becoming more and more important. We are conducting epidemiological studies on diabetes using the large-scale database in the “Yuport Medical Checkup Center Study”.
