Introduction

I am Miho Seike, an associate professor of Hiroshima University. My major is safety engineering, especially evacuation behaviour experimental investigation in Large Enclosed Space Fire Safety (LES-FS) like smoke filled tunnel, and underground safety.
The evacuation, rescue, and fire-fighting activities that may occur in large enclosed space such as tunnels and undergrounds space present a very difficult challenge as even small incidents have a high possibility of causing significant losses. Considering that Japan owes many tunnels, an optimal performance design of tunnel fire safety is needed. Based on these backgrounds, our research focuses on smoke’s and evacuees’ behaviors in tunnel fires by experiments and simulations.
