【要旨】

Small ubiquitin-like modifiers (SUMO) are covalently conjugated to target proteins which modulates their subcellular localization, activity and stability. We have recently generated SUMO transgenic mouse models which display abnormal synaptic function and indicate a key role for SUMOylation in neuronal development. Our investigations have also linked SUMOylation with the amyloid plaque and tau pathology of Alzheimer disease and highlights the unique effects of the SUMO1 and SUMO2 isoforms.
