ABOUT US
We study the morphological and ecological diversity of wild bryophytes and their evolutionary origins. Although bryophytes are small and inconspicuous, there are about 20,000 species in the world and nearly 2,000 species in Japan. Bryophytes, which have an evolutionary history of more than 400 million years, are important plants when considering the origin of land plants. Our research fields include bryophyte taxonomy, evolutionary biology, ecology, morphology, embryology, and cell biology. We welcome you to visit our laboratory. We are looking for graduate students and research fellows to participate in the research.
