Tiele: Spectral and Combinatorial properties of some flip graphs
Abstract:
In this talk, I will discuss two flip graphs:
1. The perfect matching graph where the vertices are the perfect
matchings of a complete graph on even order, where two matchings are
adjacent if one is obtained from the other by flipping two edges.
2. The triangulation graph where the vertices are the triangulations
of a convex n-polygon by n-3 non-crossing diagonals, where two
triangulations are adjacent if one is obtained from the other by
"flipping" one diagonal.
There are some conjectures regarding the chromatic numbers of these
graphs and I will describe what is known, some recent progress
involving some spectral and combinatorial properties of these graphs
and what is left to be done.
This is joint work in progress with Zhao Kang Tan (NTU Singapore
undergrad student), Florian Frick(CMU) and Jimin Kim (Ohio State grad
student).
