私は、高等教育・国際教育を基盤に、博士課程学生・若手研究者の学習、成長、ウェルビーイング、研究者としての自立、アカデミック・ソーシャライゼーション、知的謙虚さ、論文執筆、国際学生・研究者の移動や包摂、国際的な学術キャリアなどに関する研究に関心があります。これらに関連するテーマで大学院進学や研究員としての研究を検討されている方を、分野・方法論を問わず積極的に歓迎します。関心の重なりや研究アイデアについて、ぜひお気軽にご相談ください (sakurai@hiroshima-u.ac.jp)。
I welcome prospective postgraduate students and research fellows who are interested in research on higher and international education, particularly the learning, development, wellbeing and independence of doctoral students and early-career researchers; academic socialisation; intellectual humility; thesis development; the mobility and inclusion of international students and researchers; and international academic careers. I actively encourage enquiries across disciplines and methodological approaches, and would be pleased to discuss potential research ideas and areas of shared interest (sakurai@hiroshima-u.ac.jp).
【注意事項】在日本の特定の国籍の学習者に注目し、彼らの特徴のみを明らかにする研究計画は積極的に受け入れておりません。特定の国籍の学習者に注目しながらも、国際的な場における人間の学習や能力開発の理解の深化につながる研究なら大歓迎です。
Note: We do not actively accept research proposals that focus solely on examining students’ experiences of a particular nationality living in Japan. However, we welcome research that, while focusing on students of a particular nationality, contributes to a deeper understanding of students’ learning, experiences, and capability development in international contexts.

研究生（学部・博士前期課程・博士後期課程）の受け入れ方針｜
(Graduate) Research student admission policies
研究生の受け入れについては、以下の点を総合的に判断して決定しています。
・学部（大学院）での成績・研究したい事柄の基礎的知識を持っているか
・研究方法論の基本的知識（基礎的な統計と認識論や哲学の知識）を持っているか
・持続的に英語運用力を伸ばし、博士前期課程（修士課程）の後半、または博士後期課程の修学中に自分の研究テーマについて国際学会での発表をする意思があるか
研究計画がまとまったら櫻井（sakurai@hiroshima-u.ac.jp）にメールで連絡をしてください。なお、ありがたいことに多数の入学希望者からお問い合わせをいただいております。全ての学生を受け入れることはできませんので、どうしても日本で学びたいという方は他の研究室もご検討ください。
Research student candidates are admitted on the basis of the assessment of the following documents.
・Undergraduate/postgraduate academic records
・Basic knowledge in the field of research
・Basic knowledge of research methodology (basic statistics, epistemology, & research ethics)
・Willingness to develop English competence and make an oral presentation at an international scholarly conference in the second year of Master’s degree.
If you have prepared your research proposal, email me on sakurai@hiroshima-u.ac.jp. There have been many inquiries from students abroad. Unfortunately, a few of them can be admitted through. If you are highly willing to study in Japan, I would recommend considering “plan B” to do so (e.g., other research teams).
