Our laboratory explores a fundamental question: “Why do materials exhibit specific properties?” from a chemical perspective.

By integrating research groups in organic materials, polymer science, inorganic materials, and analytical chemistry, we aim to elucidate the relationship between structure and function and to create novel materials with advanced functionalities.

The Komaguchi Group investigates the electronic states of perfluorinated cubane radical anions to understand electron behavior in materials. The Nakayama Group develops environmentally friendly high-performance composites based on polylactic acid and cellulose. The Fukuoka Group focuses on innovative energy conversion technologies through the development of intermediate-temperature fuel cells. The Imae Group studies organic thermoelectric materials that convert waste heat into electricity.

Our research contributes to a wide range of fields, including energy, environment, and advanced devices. We welcome students who are motivated to create materials that do not yet exist.
