ホームステイ (2003-2009)

Homestay (2003-2009)

Organized by the volunteer work of the HUSA Staff, Kuchiwa-cho Education Board, and Tadanoumi High School

Home stay is a good opportunity to experience the daily life of Japanese families and to improve Japanese language skills. Most of the home stay families do not speak any foreign language, so a home stay will be a complete immersion into Japanese family life.

November

Home Stay in Kuchiwacho, a rural community in the mountains of Hiroshima Prefecture. Students stay alone or in groups of two with Japanese families for three days. Participants are picked up from the university and no costs are involved.

November

The home stay includes partipation in an exchange meeting at the highschool, followed by a home stay with a number of the students' families. The duration of the home stay is two days: Saturday and Sunday. Participants are picked up from the university and no costs are involved.

Tips for a successful home stay:

  • Bring small gifts for your home stay family, and if you know they have small children, bring something for them too. Avoid luxurious presents.
  • Bring some pictures, visual information about your family, city and country you came from.
  • Have an open mind towards differences in lifestyle, but be clear about what you want and do not want to do.
