Lecture at the 7th Yuzawa Geopark Research Results Presentation.

I participated in the 11th Yuzawa Geopark learning presentation exchange meeting and the 7th research results presentation held at Ogatsu Bunka Kaikan (Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture) on February 15, 2024. I gave a lecture titled “About high temperature tolerance and cyanobacteria and intestinal flora of Kajika frog larvae born in riverside baths” based on research supported by the City Yuzawa Geopark Academic Research Encouragement Grant.

Kajika frogs in eastern Japan are thought to be more tolerant of high temperatures than those in western Japan, but it was an unexpected discovery that there are groups of frogs that live in hot springs, and this phenomenon is symbolic of the characteristics of the geopark’s environment and the adaptation of organisms. I think. In the presentation, we gave a presentation on the Kajika frog that lives in the hot spring environment and the hot spring algae (cyanobacteria) that is considered to be a food resource.
