Participated in the 46th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Molecular Biology
I participated in The 46th annual meeting of the Japanese Society for Molecular Biology held at Kobe Port Island (Kobe International Conference Center, Kobe International Exhibition Center, Kobe Portopia Hotel) from December 6th to December 8th, 2023 (online advance event was held from November 27th to December 1st). This time, I was invited by Professor Yoshihiro Omori of Nagahama University of Biosciences and Professor Yukiko Ogino of Kyushu University to a symposium, “Genome science of aquatic animals reveals the evolution of vertebrates.” My presentation was below.

There were many participants and many presentations as usual, and I was busy during the conference, but I was able to have a social gathering in Sannomiya with old friends and symposists, and I had a very fulfilling time.
The soccer match was held at Oji Stadium in the afternoon of the third day of the conference, so after finishing my presentation in the morning of the third day, I immediately left the venue and rushed to the soccer venue. Although I experienced muscle strain several times this year, I didn’t have any particular after-effects, and I didn’t feel sick, so I think I was able to enjoy playing. However, there were some backlights, so I had to pass the ball to the opponent and go to get it myself several times, and I was forced to run quite a bit, and my legs gave out at the end. I still don’t have enough training. It seems that we need to prepare for both the presentation and soccer in plenty of time.
After soccer, I fully participated in a drinking party in Sannomiya, and then headed to the next academic conference (Herpetology Society @ Toho University) on ANA416 (departure 2105, arriving at Haneda Airport) from Kobe Airport. I think it was my first time at Kobe Airport, and I was a little disappointed that it didn’t leave much of an impression on me since I had been drinking.
