A delegation of Vietnamese scientists and researchers from Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS) visited and joined the seminar in our Laboratory on 22nd March 2019. On behalf of Xuan lab, Ms Troung Mai Van presented an introduction about Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry. Thereafter, the guests presented their presentations and scope of studies. The open discussion among students and VASS researchers was then held for 30 minutes. Topics involved in rice breeding, mutation technologies and environmental stresses on rice production.
The College of International Development and Cooperation (IDEC), Hiroshima University organized a commencement ceremony on 23rd March 2019 in which seven members (two PhD and five master students) of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry Laboratory (Xuan Lab) obtained their diploma. Among all students of The Department of Development Technology, Truong Mai Van got Excellent Master Thesis Award with ” Isolation and Characterization of Bioactive Compounds from Piper methysticum Forst”.
On December 23, Xuan lab was happy to welcome Vietnamese television to make interview and report about the successful A, B momilactone extract isolation. In the meeting, there were the presence of a Japanese fertilizer manufacturing company and a Hiroshima university professor, Prof. YOSHIDA YUICHIRO. Two chemical compounds of momilactone A, B are highly effective in anti diabetes, anti cancer and anti gout. In the world, the quantity of these compounds is not much, because the extraction is extremely difficult. Therefore, our laboratory’ success of momilactone A, B isolation from rice husk will be a big step for further research in modulating drugs task against century diseases.
