Our research has been posted on HU news

The news entitled “Invasive weed may help treat some human diseases, researchers find” has been released on the homepage of Hiroshima University, which summarized our study.

In the research, we found that A. virginicus extracts appear to be effective against several human diseases, including diabetes and cancer. The results were published on Dec. 31, 2020, in a special issue of Plants journal, titled “Biological Activities of Plant Extracts.”

An alumna of XUAN’s LAB breaks into the top 100 Asian Scientists – 2020

We are proud to announce that, our senior, Dr. PHAM Thi Thu Ha has been ranked 87th in the top 100 outstanding scientists of the year by Singapore’s Asian Scientist Magazine.

Dr. Ha is currently working at Ton Duc Thang University, Vietnam. She received the L’Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science National Fellowship for using molecular markers to develop high-yielding salt-tolerant rice varieties in affected areas along the Mekong Delta.

Dr. Ha completed the Ph.D. course at the Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, IDEC, Hiroshima University with many remarkable achievements. Her enthusiasm and passion for research always inspire younger generations of our LAB.

Let’s congratulate Dr. Ha on her success.
Wish Dr. Ha would achieve more and more great honors in the future.

Commencement Ceremony

The College of International Development and Cooperation (IDEC), Hiroshima University organized a commencement ceremony on 23rd March 2019 in which seven members (two PhD and five master students) of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry Laboratory (Xuan Lab) obtained their diploma. Xuan lab congratulates their achievements and wish them successful live and bright future.

Excellent Thesis Award on February 2019

On 9th February 2019, a final thesis defense celebrated at IDEC, Hiroshima university. On this semester, Our lab have 5 members who are considered to graduate master course as Tran Duc Viet, Truong Mai Van, Deguchi Teppi, Rayee Ramin , Wafa Imran Khan  and 2 members of Doctor course  Truong Ngoc Minh, Truong Thi Tu Anh. Among all students of The Department of Development Technology, Truong Mai Van got Excellent Master Thesis Award with ” Isolation and Characterization of Bioactive Compounds from Piper methysticum Forst”.

Statement of successful isolation of Momilactone A and Momilactone B from rice husk

On December 23, Xuan lab was happy to welcome Vietnamese television to make interview and report about the successful A, B momilactone extract isolation. In the meeting, there were the presence of a Japanese fertilizer manufacturing company and a Hiroshima university professor, Prof. YOSHIDA YUICHIRO. Two chemical compounds of momilactone A, B are highly effective in anti diabetes, anti cancer and anti gout. In the world, the quantity of these compounds is not much, because the extraction is extremely difficult. Therefore, our laboratory’ success of momilactone A, B isolation from rice husk will be a big step for further research in modulating drugs task against century diseases.

Two students in Xuan Lab receive “Excellent Student Award” in 2018
