Abstract: Due to the global ocean warming, the sea level rise is expected to be accelerated and the possibility of abnormal increase of sea level in future will threat the flooding of Itsukushima Shrine, one of the World Heritage Sites in Japan. Prof. Lee explained the physical mechanism of the abnormal increase of sea level due to internal seiche in Hiroshima Bay caused by a remote typhoon under well stratified ocean condition. He also presents the on-going research activities to make a prediction system for the abnormal increase of sea level in Hiroshima Bay.
